Born and raised in Lebanon, Jay Kamal immigrated to Canada at age 12. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors in Film Production from the University of British Columbia as well as a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Film Studies and Drama from the University of Alberta. Jay works full time as a cinematographer in the Vancouver film industry. His films have screened at festivals across the world and garnered awards and recognition. His directorial debut, "Terrorist", a true story about an Arab child experiencing racism following the September 11th attacks, won Best Film at both the Edmonton International Film Festival and Montréal World Film Festival. Fluent in Arabic, English, French, and Japanese, Jay strives to make multicultural films and to use his extensive travel experiences to tell stories that would otherwise remain untold.
