Mohamad Sabbah

Mohamad (Moe) Sabbah, born in 1990, is a Lebanese filmmaker/artist based in Cologne, Germany. In his work, he observes the world from a queer perspective and questions family structures, love, death, grief, and body representation. He received his MA in filmmaking in 2014 from ALBA-UOB, where he taught for a few years. In 2015, he participated in the international class at Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, where he developed and produced his debut film CHRONIC. He co-directed EMBODIED CHORUS (IDFA 2023), his second film: a hybrid documentary about bodies and shame. Since winter 2021, Mohamad has explored the medium of performance. He creates non-human creatures and brings them to the world to tell stories and spread spells. His latest works are MOLD WILL EAT IT ALL (RJM - Theater an der Ruhr), THE TIME TELLER RETURNS (Blonde Cobra - Junge nacht, Kunstpalast - Invisible Pride Mawjoudin, Paris - Auftakt, Cologne). Over the past years, Mohamad dove into sound composition and music making; his track GHADAB won the runner-up position in the Composed with Sound category of the Sound Awards 2025 by the Radiophonic Institute. He is currently developing his multidisciplinary project ESCAPING HIM, a music album, performative installation, and film. In summer 2025, he graduated from the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln with distinction and received the Chargesheimer-Stipendium from the city of Cologne.
