Malak AlSayyad

Malak AlSayyad (she/her) is a documentary filmmaker and visual journalist from Cairo, Egypt. Her work delves into themes of health, gender, human rights, and justice, exploring complex intimate human stories with empathy and nuance. Malak's filmmaking is shaped by her experience working on journalistic, artistic and commercial multimedia projects in the US, Germany, and Egypt, as well as her work in cultural nonprofits and film festivals. She is passionate about creating impactful, authentic narratives that challenge societal norms and shed light on overlooked issues. I Told You So is her directorial debut short, which won the DOC NYC U Competition Award 2023 (work-in-progress) and had its European premiere at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2025.
