Hala Elkoussy (Egypt, 1974) is a visual artist working in photography, video, installation, and sculpture. Her short films have been showcased at the Istanbul Biennial, Tate Modern, and Centre Georges Pompidou, with works in the collections of Tate Modern, Stedelijk Museum, and Jameel Collection. Elkoussy holds a BA from the American University in Cairo and an MA from Goldsmiths, London. In 2004, she co-founded Cairo Image Collective. She completed a residency at Rijksakademie in 2006. Elkoussy received the Abraaj Capital Prize in 2010 and founded Fotomasr in 2014. Her first feature film, Cactus Flower, premiered at IFFR, winning Best Actress at Dubai International Film Festival. Her second feature, East of Noon, premieres at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.
